About the Walking Track

This walk at Moocooboola (the meeting of the rivers) and Wareamah (Cockatoo Island) is a fascinating glimpse into Sydney’s maritime and convict past with spectacular harbour views.

From the Valencia Street Ferry Wharf, walk up to the Goat Paddock entry on Gale Street and walk down to and around the dry dock. Continue on through Clarkes Point Reserve to the Horse Paddock and past the marina to Kellys Bush. At Nelson Parade head north through Weil Park to Woolwich Road. Follow the road back to the wharf. Take the ferry to Cockatoo Island. Walk along the northern apron past the campground and up Burma Road to the top of the island. Explore the Convict Barracks before heading east past the workshops and houses to the tennis court. Follow the steel walkways and tracks south and then west before heading north to the steps leading down to the campground. Head west to the tunnel, walk through to the graving docks and then head through the workshops and plaza returning to the wharf
