Start and finish at the bus terminal at Bronte Beach in Cadigal land. Walk up Calga Place on the Coastal Walk. In Calga Reserve veer right to the north-east corner of the cemetery and Dorothea McKellar’s grave. Visit the graves of Henry Kendal, the Irish Monument and Henry Lawson before leaving the cemetery via the main north-western entrance. Walk along St. Thomas Street to Macpherson Street. Cross the street and head east to the lookout at the top of Gardyne Street. Walk down the steps and steep road to Pacific Street, Nelson Avenue and Bronte Road. Enter Bronte Park and head westward along the gully to the waterfall. Then go up the steps, enjoying views of the elevated rock pools and cascades of the waterfall. At the top of the steps turn right along a path and steps to Murray Street. Fifty metres north along this street take a cobbled path next to No.55 back to the northern side of Bronte Gully. Follow the track east and then north to Hewlett Street Reserve. Cross Hewlett Street, and go along Alfred Street and Darling Street to a rocky knoll, with views over Tamarama out to sea. Walk down Ashley Street to the stairs into Tamarama Gully. At the western edge, there is a delicate cascade. Walk east through the park to the crossing of Pacific Avenue. Turn left to Gaerloch Avenue and join the Coastal Walk at Gaerloch Reserve. Follow the coastal walk back to Bronte.
Public Transport
T4 train from Central Station to Bondi Junction Station and 379 bus from Stand K in the bus interchange to Bronte Beach terminus. The walk starts and finishes at this bus shelter. A trip planner is available from Transport NSW web site.
